I RAN INTO this quote earlier this week and thought: “How true is that?!”
When I see a newspaper that has a badly designed nameplate, for example, I most often see:
- Poor typography.
- Weak photography.
- Poorly written headlines.
- Gratuitous use of color.
- Absence of headline hierarchy.
Et cetera, et cetera and so forth.
When you start to work on fixing one item, you begin to realize a fundamental truth:
There are a lot more that need fixing.
