06.23.16: Getting uptight
I USUALLY ADVISE about a pica or so of space between a headline and the text it covers.
But sometimes, a headline will have only one descender (if any), and then a full pica of space seems excessive.
Yes, if there are multiple descenders, it’s best to keep the spacing loose so the descenders aren’t banging into the text. But when you have only one descender, I’d tighten the spacing.
