A FEW WEEKS AGO, I posted a page from Michelle Green at The Monadnock Shopper News. Her original page is at left. Michelle created two revises, center and right, and sent them as updates. This is how this blog works: We help each other with our comments, criticisms, witticisms and occasional smarty-pants utterances. And just once in a while, it drives us to do better work. I love it when that happens!
FROM MICHELLE: Hi Ed. Thanks for your recent recommendations for improving my Autumn Section page. As you suggested, I redid it as a learning experience, incorporating your ideas. (The link to that post.)
Then I read Dana and Marc’s suggestions in the comments (thanks!), and redid it again, trying to incorporate their recommendations. I notice that I still have three different column widths on one of the pages (something Marc points out) but I was unsure how to fix it on that page. I enjoyed trying the one column stories down the left side of the page. Our paper is usually a 7 column format, so to make the row of stories work, I changed this page to 5 columns wide.
