HERE’S A SUPER PHOTO from Paul Keane, Publisher of the Wayne County News in Waynesboro, MS.
Here is the photo I wanted you to look at. It’s from last Saturday’s 23-mile boat race down the Chickasawhay River. This is Mike Herbert, a three-time Olympian who came down from Rogers, Ark., to run the race. He smoked the competition, needless to say, beating the course record by nearly 30 minutes. The yellow tape in the photo is the actual finish line.
Just as a side note, after he finished the race, he made a U-turn and went upstream to catch up with his daughter, who was making her first long-distance race. Then, he paddled right beside her to the finish line. For a 56-year-old, he’s something else.
