01.12.17: Shooting your screen
This is a screenshot of a selected portion of the screen
WELL NOW, I don’t mean actually shooting your screen…so go on and holster that six-shooter there, Pilgrim!
What I’m referring to is taking a screenshot of your computer. I use screenshots often here on my blog. I also may use a screenshot when I want to show a client an idea or two. Whatever the reasons, I’ve found screenshots to be an invaluable tool during my 27-plus years as a consultant.
The illustrations above show a shot of a full screen (top) and a selected area (bottom). They’re so easy to do, it surprises me to hear occasionally that someone has no idea how to take them.
On a Mac, use Shift-Command-3 to take a shot of the entire screen. Or you can use Shift-Command-4 to change your screen pointer to a crosshair. Then drag the crosshair to select the area you want to shoot.
