08.24.17: School daze
AS I REVIEW the design of community newspapers, I’ll occasionally come across one with a nameplate run in a very different combination of colors.
When I ask about that, I’m often told that those are the signature colors of the local high school team.
I think it’s a good idea to support your high school…especially in a community newspaper. I’m all for it.
But…you are not your high school. You are a newspaper. You are part of the lifeblood of your community. You matter more than a mascot. Much more.
So, while it’s a good thing to support your high school and its students and its sports, do that in your sports, news and opinion pages.
But not in your nameplate.
