08.25.16: Not just Jane
MEET JANE. Jane works for your newspaper. Been there for 18 years now. Jane knows everyone in your town. She visits with her contacts at least every week—sometimes more frequently.
Jane also knows a lot about what’s happening in your town—including stuff you can’t print. Yet.
Jane’s been at her job for years. She know most officials and community leaders on a first-name basis. She’s got the business, work and cell numbers for many of them.
She’s always out in your community, visiting the head of the local bank now, calling the deputy mayor this afternoon, having dinner with the Rotary tonight and breakfast with the Chamber of Commerce tomorrow.
There’s not much that gets by her—and whatever does, she eventually hears about from her contacts.
Jane may be your best news resource…if only you spent some time with her.
Y’see, Jane’s not your editor. She’s an ad sales rep.
Maybe…just maybe…you should get to know Jane a little better.
