MAKING A CHANGE in the look of your paper? Adding new content? Shifting content from one page (or section) to another?
Let your readers know. Just write a short piece telling them what you’re doing and why. Put it on page 1, so they can’t tell you they didn’t see it.
And at the end of that article, ask for feedback. Most readers will be fine with the change, but those who don’t like it are more likely to tell you so. By asking for feedback, you’re going to encourage those who do like the change to chime in.
Channel that feedback by creating a new email address. And give them a phone number where they can talk to someone about the change.
Doing so tells readers that you appreciate that it is their newspaper and that you know you are working for them.
